We specialise in helping leaseholders in the prime central London residential areas of Mayfair, Belgravia, Knightsbridge and Chelsea, where the main landlords are the Cadogan, Grosvenor and Wellcome Trust estates.
So far we have saved around 760 leaseholders over £90.22 million on their landlords’ starting prices for leasehold extension or freehold purchase – an overall saving of 26.31 per cent on average.
The Cadogan Estate extends through Chelsea and Knightsbridge. These areas were combined under Cadogan family ownership when Elizabeth Sloane, heiress to the Manor of Chelsea bought by her father Sir Hans Sloane, married Charles Cadogan in 1717. Many of the area's streets and squares are named after the two families.
In 1677 the marriage of heiress Mary Davies to Sir Thomas Grosvenor brought the 500-acre Manor of Ebury into the Grosvenors' ownership. They began developing the northern part (soon to be named Mayfair) in the 1720s. From the 1820s they developed the southern part, as Belgravia.
In 1995 the biomedical research charity, founded on the fortune of pharmaceutical magnate Sir Henry Wellcome, bought 58 acres of South Kensington from the Smith's Charity Estate started by City merchant Henry Smith in the 17th century.
We have also helped many leaseholders to secure their rights from other landlords, such as the Crown, The Church Commissioners for England, The Day Estate, Howard de Walden, John Lyon Charity in St John's Wood, Ilchester and Portman Estates, and those with smaller property portfolios.
